This kit features the xTool F1 2-in-1 Dual Laser Engraver, designed for introducing users to laser cutting and engraving. It is perfect for creative projects, prototyping, and hands-on learning. The kit can be used for library programs, maker spaces, and STEM workshops.
What's in the Kit?
The Laser Cutter/Engraver Kit includes:
xTool F1 2-in-1 Dual Laser Engraver with Protective Laser Shield: Supports both 455 nm diode and 1064 nm infrared laser modes.
Honeycomb Working Table and Adjustable Bracket: Provides a stable and safe cutting surface and allows for repeat positioning.
Exhaust Ducting and Filtration System: For proper ventilation and smoke removal.
Power Cable and USB Cable: To connect and power the laser engraver.
Material Samples: Includes wood, paper, and metal for practice.
Sliding Extension: For larger projects.
Setup and Usage Instructions
Unpacking the Kit
Carefully remove items from the case. Verify that all components are present and undamaged.
Locate the laser engraver, exhaust ducting, purifier, cables, and material samples.
Setting Up the Laser Cutter/Engraver
Place the laser engraver on a stable, flat surface with sufficient ventilation.
Attach the exhaust fan and connect the ducting to an open window or included purifier.
Place the honeycomb working table beneath the laser head.
Plug in the power cable and connect the laser to your computer using the USB cable.
Check the Emergency Stop Button: Ensure it is not engaged before powering on the machine. Twist the button to pop it out and turn on the machine.
Installing the xTool Software
Download xTool Creative Space (XCS) from xtool.com/software and install it.
Selecting the Laser Mode
Diode Laser (455 nm): Ideal for engraving wood, leather, and acrylic.
Infrared Laser (1064 nm): Suitable for engraving metals and hard surfaces.
Switch between modes using the control knob or software.
Focusing the Laser
Manual Focus: Turn the knob to move the laser head up or down until the red and blue laser spots coincide, indicating correct focus.
For optimal cutting, use the honeycomb working table to minimize burn marks and protect the baseplate.
Safety Precautions
Use the protective laser shield to block the laser beam.
Ensure proper ventilation through the exhaust.
Do not leave the machine unattended while operating.
Avoid prohibited materials (e.g., PVC or vinyl), which release harmful fumes.
Preparing Material for Cutting/Engraving
Place the material flat on the working table.
In XCS, select the material type and laser settings.
Run a test cut or engraving to check settings.
Maintenance Tips
Clean the field lens regularly with a lint-free cloth.
Check the exhaust fan for blockages and clean if needed.
Example Use Cases
Art Workshops: Create custom engravings on wood or acrylic.
STEM Programs: Teach design and prototyping with laser-cut parts.
Library Signage: Make signs or plaques for library events.
Etching Library Devices: Brand your equipment in-house!

**Note: Diode lasers can be used to engrave and score clear acrylic, but they may not be ideal for cutting clear acrylic. Diode lasers can handle many tasks, but their effectiveness in cutting clear acrylic may not always meet your expectations. You might face challenges on acrylic laser cutting, such as melted edges, slow cutting speeds, and limitations on material thickness using laser for acrylic cutting.**
