Setup and Usage Instructions
1. Setting Up the Elgato Device
Install the Software:
Download the Elgato Video Capture software from Elgato Downloads.
Follow the installation prompts for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
Connect the Device:
Plug the Elgato device into a USB port on your computer.
Connect your video source (VCR, camcorder, or other devices) to the Elgato device using either the RCA Composite or S-Video cables.
2. Digitizing Video Content
Launch the Software:
Open the Elgato Video Capture application.
Follow the on-screen prompts to name your video and specify the duration of the recording.
Configure Video and Audio Inputs:
Select the correct input source (Composite or S-Video) using the software.
Ensure audio is properly connected. Adjust audio levels so they don’t peak into the red zone.
Start Recording:
Press Play on your video source to begin playback.
Click the Start Recording button in the software.
When finished, click Stop Recording or let the software stop automatically based on the specified duration.
Trim and Save:
Use the built-in trimming tool to remove unwanted footage from the start or end of the recording.
Save your file to your preferred location (default: Videos folder on Windows or Movies folder on macOS).
