Tech Byte Events

Tech Bytes are one-day, high-impact training events designed to bring library IT professionals and emerging technology together. Hosted in locations across Georgia, these sessions offer a byte-sized deep dive into the latest tech solutions, guided by industry experts. Unlike our annual Tech Boot Camp, Tech Byte features vendor-led training: providing hands-on demonstrations, expert insights, and a chance for libraries to engage directly with their vendors and peers. Whether you're looking to explore new IT tools, sharpen your skills, or connect with tech vendors, Tech Byte delivers the knowledge you need in a fast, focused format.

Join us at an upcoming Tech Byte near you and take your library’s technology to the next level—one byte at a time!

Upcoming:

ChromeOS Day, March 11, 2025 (Middle Georgia Regional Library):
Georgia's libraries are doing exciting things with ChromeOS! Whether your system is at the cutting edge of adopting this platform or just interested in hearing what other libraries are up to, there is a place for you at GPLS ChromeOS Day. This event has a little bit of something for everyone, from face-to-face time with members of the ChromeOS team and their partners at CDW-G to a chance to show off your ChromeOS use cases to your library peers. You'll even get to take a ChromeOS Admin Console training course in person and free of charge, preparing you to take the test for official admin certification on your time!

Past Events:

AppSheet Hackathon, November 21 2024 (Google Atlanta):

Calling all Georgia public library innovators! Join us for an exciting Google AppSheet Hackathon where your creativity and tech skills can shine! Collaborate, build amazing apps, and discover the power of no-code development through Google's AppSheet platform. This is your chance to make a real impact on library services and patrons by creating an app that meets a key need!

You can participate in this event alone or in a team of up to 4 people. In the weeks leading up to the event, you/your team will work on an AppSheet-based app that meets a need of your choice. On the big day, you'll get the chance to polish up your app under the guidance of Google's AppSheet wizards and then present your hard work to your colleagues.
