Setup and Usage Instructions
Powering On the Hotspot
Press and hold the Power button for 2 seconds to turn the hotspot on.
The device screen will display signal strength, battery level, and connection status.
Connecting to the Hotspot
On your device (e.g., laptop, phone, tablet), open Wi-Fi settings and look for the network name (SSID) displayed on the hotspot screen (e.g., “Verizon-RC400L-XX”).
Select the network and enter the Wi-Fi password, which can also be found on the hotspot’s 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi info screen.
Charging the Hotspot
Connect the USB-C cable to the device’s charging port and plug the other end into an electrical outlet. The battery icon will show charging progress, and a full charge takes about 3 hours.
A fully charged battery provides up to 12 hours of use.
Managing Connections
Up to 10 devices can connect to the hotspot simultaneously. The number of connected devices is displayed on the home screen next to the Wi-Fi signal icon.
For security, avoid sharing the Wi-Fi password with unauthorized users.
Example Use Cases
Staff Travel: Provide internet access to staff attending offsite events or conferences.
Emergency Connectivity: Offer temporary internet access in libraries impacted by internet outages.
Community Outreach Events: Enable internet access at outdoor or remote library-sponsored events.
Troubleshooting Tips
No Signal: Move to an area with better cellular reception, ideally near a window or outside if indoors.
Unable to Connect: Confirm the correct Wi-Fi password and ensure the device is within range (ideally within 30 feet).
Battery Issues: Fully charge the battery before use, and carry the charger for extended usage.
Read the guide: If you experience further issues you can check out the user guide here.
Safety Precautions
Keep Away from Liquids: The device is not water-resistant.
Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Store and operate the hotspot in a temperature-controlled environment to prevent overheating. Placing it in a window can be good for signal, but if the device gets too hot it may degrade performance, cause it to shut down, or damage the battery.
Do not modify the device or settings: Removal of the SIM card, or changing the wireless network settings will render the device inoperable.
Checklist for Returning the Kit
Ensure the hotspot, USB-C cable, and carrying case are returned in good condition.
Delete any personal or saved Wi-Fi networks from the connected devices.
Complete the post-use survey to provide feedback.
